Steelers' Ryan Clark Calls Amendola "Fragile," Says Brady "Sees Ghosts"

ESPN’s “NFL Live” television program discussed the Patriots on Monday, with analyst Darren Woodson and Steelers safety Ryan Clark on the set with host Wendi Nix. The question posed was how vulnerable the Patriots are given the offseason loss of Wes Welker, and Clark’s analysis was particularly noteworthy given that he’s a current player who has game-planned against the team’s offense. “I think what’s really underestimated is Wes Welker’s importance to not only the New England Patriots, but Tom Brady. A lot of what they do is timing. A lot of what they do is option reads, when you’re working inside against that nickelback or against those linebackers. Losing him is huge,” Clark said. “I know they think Danny Amendola can come in and have the same type of numbers he had with the Rams, but we also have to remember, he’s fragile. He’s not a guy who has completed a whole season, especially playing inside in what can be a physical AFC East… In 2010, we saw it start with the Jets in the playoffs. When Tom Brady gets pressure and when you’re man-to-man and bumping those guys and making it hard for him to throw, he sees ghosts. Even when guys aren’t around him, even when he’s not about to be sacked, when his clock goes off in his head that the ball should be out, we’ll see him duck, we’ll see him flinch. When you get Tom Brady doing that, the whole New England Patriots mystique goes away.”

Wow, I have to admit I wasn’t ready for this.  Here we are only in early May and I just wasn’t expecting to have some mouthy douchebag from Pittsburgh shooting his mouth off and calling the Patriots a bunch of pussies.  Not this early in the year.  I mean, I do expect it from them; Just not now.  You can always count on the Steelers to start in with this shit-talking by the beginning of camp in July.  They work on it throughout the preseason and they’re all ready to go by the kickoff of Week 1.  But this is really coming out of nowhere.  Usually you have to wait until at least October to get this level of asshattery out of these dildoes.  But this is midseason form.  And I have to confess I’m just not in blogging game shape right now.  If the regular season was closer, I’d be better prepared to fire back at a prick like Clark with all sorts of stats and witty banter to shut his cake hole.  But I’m just not ready to play at full speed.  So I guess I’ll just have to fall back on how Anthony Smith in ’07 “guar-an-teed” a win to snap the Patriots perfect season.  Right before Brady vivisected him in the end zone for two TDs and Belichick went out of his way to say the Pats had faced much better DBs than him.  For now, that’s the best I can do.  But the Steelers come to Foxboro in Week 9, Nov. 3rd.  And I can promise you that by the time that rolls around, I’ll be in better condition to answer back.  As will Brady, Amendola and The Hooded One.  Like the Old Klingon Proverb from Kill Bill Vol 1 says, “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”  @JerryThornton1
